Purpose

The Faculty Technology Innovation Award promotes faculty to implement new technology ideas to enhance the student’s learning experience.

Eligibility

This award is open to all Full-Time and Adjunct SUS Faculty regardless of technical ability or expertise who demonstrated technological innovation during the 2015 school year (from Fall quarter 2014 through Summer quarter 2015). Examples of nominees may include but are not limited to:

  • A faculty member who has voluntarily initiated technology not previously used in the delivery of their assigned course(s) at their campus.
  • A faculty member who creatively addresses challenges by implementing a technology option. For example:
    • Supplemental material to assist students in learning or retaining information.
    • Supplemental material to further engage students in the on-line learning environment.
    • Applications to make up lost classroom time for absences or snow days.
  • A faculty member with technical expertise who acts a mentor, encouraging and assisting other faculty to integrate technology in their courses.

Nominations

Nominations should recognize outstanding faculty examples of creative implementation of technology to enhance the student’s learning experience. Campus Directors will narrow the nominations that will be submitted for consideration, choosing best of the best that will inspire other faculty to embrace the use of technology in their courses.

Selection

All nominations received will be reviewed, and finalists selected by, the SUS Executive Committee.

Recognition

At the 2015 Faculty Retreat:

  • A list of finalists will be read and asked to stand for recognition. [All finalists will also receive a certificate of recognition and $50 gift card from the SUS President after the Faculty Retreat.]
  • A video compilation highlighting the finalists’ technology applications will be shown as part of the lunch program.
  • The SUS Faculty Technology Innovation Award Recipient will be invited on stage and presented with a certificate of recognition by the President. Award recipient will receive a Microsoft Surface or other personal-use technology device of the recipient’s choice of similar value.

Deadline for nominations: Tuesday, September 1st.
