Grants

Grants are a one-time source of financial aid that, like scholarships, generally do not need to be repaid. Students at Sullivan University may be eligible for several grants, including:

College Access Program Grants

A grant only for residents of the state of Kentucky. Eligibility for this grant is determined by the FAFSA form. Aid from these programs is awarded on the basis of financial need. In order to receive maximum consideration for financial assistance, it is recommended that the student apply as soon as possible after October 1. The award process for first-year students begins in March of each academic year. Renewal of financial aid is not automatic. Recipients are required to reapply each year by the announced deadline. To be eligible for these programs, students must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Kentucky resident
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Be enrolled at least half-time in a program at least two years in length.
• Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or eligible non-citizen.
• Have no past-due financial obligations to KHEAA or to any Title IV program.

Federal Pell Grants

The Federal Pell Grant is a federally funded entitlement program to assist needy undergraduate students. Eligibility for these grants is determined by the U.S. Department of Education based on the information provided on the FAFSA. Pell recipients can have a less than half-time status. Students with a previous bachelor’s degree are not eligible for a Federal Pell Grant.

Federal Supplemental Opportunity Educational Grants

This federally funded program provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. The amount of the award is based on need and the availability of funds. Students with a previous bachelor’s degree are not eligible for a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant.

Kentucky Tuition Grant

This grant is for residents of Kentucky who attend a private university in Kentucky. To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Kentucky resident
• Be enrolled full-time in an associate or bachelor's degree program
• Have no past due financial obligations to KHEAA or to any Title IV program

Students requested by the institution to provide verification of data for any financial assistance program shall provide documentation and clear the verification before receiving disbursements of any of these grants. Additionally, students are eligible to receive financial aid as long as they maintain satisfactory academic progress, students who fail to maintain satisfactory academic standing will be notified by Academic Services.
