Biography

Dr. Riggs is a native of Sayre, PA. She received a B.A. degree in Biochemistry from Keuka College in 2002. She received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2008. After graduation, she continued in cancer research completing a postdoctoral training program with a focus on metastatic cancer in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She joined the Department of Molecular Cardiology and Diabetes and Obesity Center as a postdoctoral scholar in 2011, where her work focused on establishing rat models of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Her teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate education. In 2013, she joined the faculty at the Alabama College of Osteopathic medicine as an assistant professor of biochemistry. Dr. Riggs’ family moved back to their adopted home of Louisville in October 2014 when she joined the faculty in the Sullivan University Physician Assistant Program. She serves as the Basic Sciences Coordinator and teaches the Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics courses as well as the Physiology and Pathophysiology courses.
