Which ones will you join?

American Design Drafting Association (ADDA)

Sullivan College of Technology and Design is affiliated with the American Design Drafting Association and has an active student chapter. The organization provides opportunities for you to participate in sponsored meetings, activities and competitions across the nation.

International Interior Design Association (IIDA)

The Interior Design Department is affiliated with the professional organization of the International Interior Design Association, which promotes active student participation in professional workshops, seminars, trade markets and monthly meetings for contract (non-residential) designers. The chapter actively pursues a variety of service projects and experiences in which you can participate.

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)

ASID encourages student membership in the largest interior design professional organization for residential designers in the country. ASID provides contact with professionals through local meetings and informative design publications. ASID also seeks service projects in which you can participate to sharpen your technical and employability skills in real settings.

SkillsUSA is open to students in any technical program. The organization raises funds each year that cover the cost of organization dues at the state and national level and the cost of travel to competitions. You pay nothing out of pocket to participate in the organization. SkillsUSA will help you improve your leadership skills, employability skills and technical skills through study, networking and competition.

American Advertising Federation – Louisville/Student Design Union

The student chapter of the American Advertising Federation – Louisville (AAF-Louisville) is the Student Design Union. It is a great way for Computer Graphic Design and Dynamic Web Development students to network with professionals in the design industry and related fields. You must pay annual dues to be a member of AAF-Louisville and can then attend professional meetings throughout the year. On campus, the organization hosts guest speakers from the industry and conducts extracurricular activities.

SCTD Honor Society

You must have and maintain a GPA of at least 3.3, have attended at least two quarters of college successfully and have a history of good attendance. If you aspire to society membership, you should have an interest in learning and in helping others, work well with others and demonstrate leadership and dependability. Members participate in service projects and eventually serve as tutors with pay.
